Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Manama and grew up in an ethnically diverse, multiracial family. Her father Elroy Fernandez is from Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is Malaysian. She has two elder brothers, and two younger ones. Parents have moved to Bahrain in 1980s due to the Lankan civil unrest and hence she was born and raised in Bahrain. Her schooling was completed in Bahrain and she received an Scholarship for at the University of Sydney. There she earned an Media and Communications degree. The love of different cultures and languages has led her to the Berlitz Language School, a school in which she mastered French and Arabic in addition to learning Spanish. The crown was awarded to Miss Sri Lanka 2006 for Miss Universe 2006 on March 6th, 2006 and also was a contestant at Miss Universe 2006. After winning Miss Sri Lanka title in 2006, she took on the world of TV and hosted a program that was a business show in Sri Lanka named Lanka Business Report. Padukone is the child of of badminton world champion Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew as a child in Bangalore, but she is a native of Copenhagen. When she was a teen, Padukone competed in a variety of National badminton competitions. However, she resigned from the sport when she decided to become a fashion model. Padukone hails from Mangalore and her native language is Konkani. Her family ancestors are from the village of Padukone within the Kundapura Taluk, in the Udupi district of Karnataka state in India. Prakash Padukone was a badminton legend before retiring in the 1980s. Her mother, who worked for a travel agency also comes from the village.
